Five parts, always in the same order
Every action page answers the same five questions in the same sequence. That is deliberate. A reader who has done something and wants to know if it can be fixed should not have to learn a new layout on every page.

1.The five parts
- What the action is. Described concretely, in the form a reader would recognise from their own screen rather than in general terms.
- When the window opens and closes. Two boundaries, both named as events.
- What closes it. The specific thing that ends the option, which is usually not the passage of time.
- What is still possible afterwards. There is always something, even where the something is small.
- What people wrongly believe is reversible. The sharpest part, and the reason most of these pages exist.
The order matters more than it looks. Parts one and two are description. Parts three and four are the useful bit for somebody in the middle of a problem. Part five is the useful bit for somebody who is not in trouble yet, which is why it sits at the end where it can be found deliberately rather than stumbled into.
2.The strip near the top of each page
Most entries open with a short strip listing when the window opens, when it closes, what closes it and what remains possible. It exists so that a reader in a hurry never has to read a paragraph to find out whether hurrying is worth it.
The values in that strip are never numbers. They are events. That is a rule rather than a stylistic preference and the section on wider windows explains why publishing durations for a market you do not operate is guesswork dressed as fact.
3.What the numbered headings are for
Each entry is built from numbered sections rather than a continuous essay. A reader who lands from a search usually needs one of the five parts and not the other four, and numbered headings let them jump without reading around.
The numbering also keeps the writing honest. If a section cannot be given a heading that says what it contains, it is usually padding, and it gets cut.
4.Why every entry ends on a belief
The fifth part is not a warning section. Warnings tell a reader to be careful, which is advice nobody has ever successfully followed. The fifth part instead names a specific thing the reader may currently believe, and says whether it is true.
That is a much smaller and more useful target. Nobody can act on "be careful with escrow". Anybody can act on "releasing early cannot be revoked by asking". The collected list of those beliefs is the shortest route through the whole site.
5.What entries deliberately leave out
- Durations presented as facts about the market. The market sets those and changes them.
- Availability of any address, in any form, including implied forms like a freshness date.
- Recommendations between vendors or addresses, since there is no basis for one here.
- Instructions for anything beyond accounts, payments, messages, keys and habits.
- Any suggestion that this site can intervene. It cannot, in any situation, for anyone.
Two readers can take the same action and end up in different places. The entry does not predict which. It describes the shape of the action, which is the part that holds still: what could undo it, who would have to do that, and when the option stops being offered.
