Days or a window

The window around a troubled order is usually generous. It is not yours to extend, and it holds one clean move. File before there is anything to show and the window stays open in name only, because the move inside it is gone.

1.What filing a dispute actually does

A dispute is not a message with the volume turned up. It is a formal step that brings a third party into your order and changes what the market will do with the funds. A buyer normally gets one of those steps per order.

That is the whole problem in a line. The window is wide. The move inside it is single use, which is why the rule this site runs on sorts by what you can take back.

Window opens
When the order reaches a state the market lets you dispute.
Window closes
The moment you file, or when the market closes the order on its own rule.
What shuts it
Your own click, more often than the calendar.
Still possible after
Answering well inside the case you already opened.

2.The window was fine, the move was not

Hardly anyone loses here because they ran out of room. They lose because they spent a good window on the wrong move. A complaint filed on the first quiet day, with nothing attached but impatience, reads as a buyer who could not wait. The same complaint later, with a short dated account, reads as a buyer with a case.

Look at it before deciding. Read the state the order is in rather than the state you remember, and ask what a stranger would see if they opened it cold. If the honest answer is nothing yet, nothing yet is what you are filing.

Read this twiceFiling is not a draft. There is no version where you open a case to see how it goes, withdraw it, and open a better one next week. Treat it as the last thing you press.

3.What shuts it, and who decides

Two things close this one. Your own click, and the rule the market applies to orders that have run long enough. What shuts it is a rule and not a mood, and it will not pause because you were mid-conversation.

How long you get differs between orders and vendors. The market sets it, not this site. The only figure worth acting on is on your own order page, and the six things that close a window run the same way.

4.One move left, and how to spend it

  • Say it once, plainly, with dates in it. A short account beats one that arrives in six edits.
  • Once the case exists, the case is where you talk. Keep it consistent with the order page.
  • Know how close the order is to closing first, because the auto-finalise clock does not wait for your reply.

5.Two beliefs that spend the move early

The first is that a dispute can be pulled back and filed again fresh. Withdrawing may end the case. It does not hand the move back.

The second is that filing early shows you are serious. It shows you are early. Seriousness here looks like a record, and an order you finalised is the other end of it.

A wide window, and the one move inside it already gone.

Two buyers, same problem, same room. One files at the first sign of nothing happening. The other keeps notes and files when there is something to point at. Only one still had a move when it mattered.

6.If you already filed too early

You are not out of options, you are down to smaller ones. Answer what you are asked, add the detail you did not have when you filed, and stop repeating yourself.

Questions people send in

Can I withdraw a dispute and file it again later?

Assume not. Withdrawing may close the case without returning the move that opened it. Decide as though you get one.

How long do I actually have?

The market decides, and it differs between orders and vendors. Read the figure on your own order, not one somebody quoted at you.

Does messaging the vendor count as acting?

Not for this. A conversation changes what you know, not the state of the order.
