Most of an order is decided by other people. The vendor ships or does not. The market applies its rules. Feedback is the one piece that stays under your hand the whole way through, and it is the piece most people skip.

1.The last part still yours

It is worth naming that clearly. Everything else on the order is a response to somebody else. This is the only thing on the page that starts with you and finishes with you.

It stays yours only while the order does, which is a shorter arrangement than it sounds.

Window opens: When the order reaches the point feedback is allowed.
Window closes: When the order closes, on the market rule that applies to it.
What shuts it: The order ending, whether or not you were the one who ended it.
Still possible after: Keeping your own note on that vendor for next time.

2.Why it does not stay open

Feedback attaches to an order. When the order is finished and filed, the thing it would attach to has gone with it. That is the mechanism, and it is why the auto-finalise clock takes this window along when it fires.

How long you have is a market decision and it varies between orders. The order page carries the answer for yours, and nothing else does.

3.Leaving nothing is not neutral

An order with no feedback is not a blank. It reads as quiet approval, because the people who were unhappy are the ones most likely to say so. Silence at scale flatters everyone it touches.

It also costs the next buyer, who opens that vendor page and finds one fewer honest entry than there should have been. Every action and the window it has treats most habits as private. This one is not.

4.Writing it while you still can

Say what happened and when. Dates outlive adjectives by a wide margin.
Separate the thing that annoyed you from the thing another buyer actually needs to know.
Do not write it in the first ten minutes after a bad surprise, and do not leave it until the order closes either.
Keep your own copy. The public version is not your record and you cannot rely on reading it back.

5.Added whenever you get round to it

That is the belief, and it comes from reviewing restaurants months after eating in them. It does not hold here. Feedback lives inside a window and it goes when the window does, which how every entry here is laid out puts at the top of the page for a reason.

The quieter belief is that leaving nothing keeps you out of it. Nobody is out of it. A missing entry is still an entry from the point of view of the person reading that vendor page tomorrow.

The review you were going to write at the weekend.

It was going to be careful and fair, and it was going to take fifteen minutes you did not have on Thursday. By Sunday the order had closed on a rule, and the careful, fair version now exists only in your head, where it helps nobody.
